A Pocketful of Python: Volume 1
Published in Hardcover by Methuen Publishing, Ltd (01 September, 2000)
Authors: Terry Jones, Jim Keary, and Terry Gilliam
Average review score:

Another Portable Laugh (Not that that's a bad thing)
A funny, useful little companion. Including classics and unknowns. This is definitely something Python fans will love. This outrageous, must-reread, book has tasty tidbits of Python humor, song lyrics, and some not-as-well-known sketches. If you're a follower of Monty Python, You have to read the Pocketful of Python series. Definitely worth ordering.

Glorious, simply glorious
Spamtastic! It's so nice and little, I can carry it around with me in my purse and backpack! It's great when I need a Python fix. It has "The Lumberjack Song" and "Spam" and "Every Sperm is Sacred" Lyrics, but it also has really funny, lesser known skits like "Constitutional Peasants" (from Holy Grail) and "What Have the Romans Ever Done For Us?" (from Life of Brian). I was really torn between this one and John Cleese's Pocketful of Python, but the "Truth About Protestants" skit (from Meaning of Life) made me get it. Every Python fan should own this. It's a funny and wonderful mix of popular and unpopular Python and will make you [at least] giggle every time you read it.

Above Yosemite
Published in Hardcover by Cameron & Co (December, 1983)
Authors: Robert Cameron and Harold Gilliam
Average review score:

Above The Rest
A great book detailing a lot about natural history and presenting views seldom seen of the park. One minor complaint is that some of the spectacular features of the park look very tiny from the air and hard to pick out. Still, Cameron takes pictures of familiar sights from unfamiliar angles which are continuously refreshing. Gilliam's text is very informative (a dam above Nevada Falls?) and presents a lot of new insights on the park. Must have book for lovers of the Above... series and Yosemite-philes.

Complete Irish Tin Whistle Book
Published in Audio CD by Mel Bay Publications (November, 1998)
Authors: Mizzy McCaskill and Dona Gilliam
Average review score:

great tutorial!
At 144 pages, this book gives a more leisurely tutorial than a comprable shorter book. This book is intended for those who can read music already, and is only really useful for a d whistle (the whistle used by most beginners anyway). This book is filled with excellent music. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to pick up the tin whistle.

Great Collection

Howarduq likes the book
The Fisher King is an excellent film. It stars Jeff Bridges, Robin Williams, Mercedes Ruehl, and Amanda Plummer. These four bring Richard LaGravanese's script to life. See how it was done with this book, which includes the screenplay, an essay by the author, a short intro by Gilliam (the director), and interviews of Gilliam and Williams by journalist David Morgan. Also included are outtakes of the screenplay, B+W still shots of the film, and a list of the credits.

JavaScript Unleashed (4th Edition)
Published in Paperback by SAMS (19 November, 2002)
Authors: R. Allen Wyke and Jason Gilliam
Average review score:

Unleash the power of the Javascript.
While working on web sites or teaching web development in the classroom I have found that more and more people are looking to enhance the website without have to learn a lot of fancy programming. JavaScript and DHTML are 2 of the ways people I work with are looking for the improvements.

This particular book, which covers over 700 pages, is the perfect addition to the web design library. According to the book the level is intermediate to advanced, but I found that the way the author presents information almost every level would find a benefit to this guide.

With hundreds of examples to use and learn from, the book goes beyond the typical JavaScript book, giving the reader an excellent reference manual to work with. While there are no step by step instructions because the manual is written for a higher level, the novice can still work with what comes with the book.

I found a number of ways to better the web pages I work on, also I found that working with both FrontPage and DreamWeaver this book makes coding much easier. If you looking for ways to improve what you do now this might be the best buy for the money.

Katie and the Computer
Published in Hardcover by Creative Computing Pr (June, 1979)
Authors: Fred D'Ignazio and Stan Gilliam
Average review score:

Still relevant overview of computers! Katie rocks!
Coming from a Catie herself I must say that this book is amazing. I remember, in fact, signing autographs for it when I was three years old. The funny thing is that I just re-read it and the overview of computing architecture that Katie introduces is still absolutely accurate for today's computers. If you're looking for a fun intro to computer architecture for kids or even just a good wonderland story, check out this book!
